J. Todd Watkins is the Founder of The Pan-American College Fund. He is originally from Sumter, S.C. and moved to Peachtree, Georgia at the age of 13. He graduated from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he received his first taste of higher education. Todd received an Associate of Science degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Mercer University. Upon graduation, Todd changed services and accepted a Commission into the U.S. Army where he was a CH-47(D) Helicopter Pilot. He also served as the Tax Officer for Bravo Company, 7th Battalion in the 101st Airborne Division. After suffering an injury while flying at The National Training Center (NTC) in California, Todd accepted a disability retirement and was placed on the Temporary Duty Retirement List. Part of this program included Vocational Rehabilitation where Todd was accepted into Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business and graduated with his MBA in 2004.
Todd continued his education by attending such programs as Philanthropy University at the Berkeley Haas School of Business located at the University of California. Todd earned a Certificate from the Haas School of Business in “Social Sector Leadership.” Courses in this program include, “Essentials of Non-Profit Strategy,” “Global Social Entrepreneurship,” “Financial Modeling for the Social Sector,” and “Fundraising.” Currently, Todd is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Nonprofit Leadership and Financial Management from Liberty University. Todd is also concurrently pursuing his CAP (Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy) from The American College. The CAP is a master’s level curriculum and includes courses such as “Planning for Philanthropic Impact,” “Charitable Giving Strategies” and “Gift Planning in the Nonprofit Sector.”
Todd is also the founder and CEO of Philanthropy Financial. This is an investment advisory firm dedicated solely to the needs of the Nonprofit Sector. As an AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) and an AIFA (Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst) Todd assists NGOs and their Board Members with fulfilling their Fiduciary duties to both donors and employees. Philanthropy Financial is located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
Todd splits his time between his homes in Pires do Rio, Brazil and Atlanta, GA.
